CHICO (United States) May 7 (AP) – A 17-year-old girl was killed and five others were killed in a shooting at a party near a college campus in Northern California early Saturday, police said. Injuried.
Police Chief Billy Aldridge said six people had been shot dead in a Chico apartment building after police received a report of the shooting around 3:30 a.m.
All victims were taken to hospital, where the teenager died, he said.
Two men, aged 21 and 19, and a girl, 17, remain in hospital in a stable, non-life-threatening condition, officials said. Aldridge said two other men, aged 18 and 20, were treated at the hospital and released.
Police said the shooting appeared to be an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to the community. They did not release any information about the shooter.
About 30 minutes before the shooting, police were called to the same address and arrested a man suspected of branding a firearm, Aldridge said.
Aldridge said the suspect’s description matched that of a man who was asked to leave a separate party about a mile away around 12:30 a.m. A fight broke out at an earlier party and two people were taken to hospital after being shot in the head, one with a bottle and one with a gun, the official said.
The investigation was conducted on Saturday.
Both are within blocks of Cal State Chico, a city of about 101,000 residents 145 kilometers north of Sacramento. (Associated Press)
