NAIROBI, April 25 (AP) — The first group of Kenyans evacuated from Sudan landed at the country’s main airport on Monday.
Thirty-nine students — 19 Kenyans as well as 19 Somalis and a Saudi Arabian national — disembarked from a Kenya Air Force plane that touched down Monday night.
The students traveled overland to South Sudan, where they boarded a military aircraft.
The group were received by Defense Minister Aden Duvale, who said they were all students at an international university in Sudan and that more Kenyans would be flown home.

Further evacuations are underway, with the Foreign Office saying three evacuations are planned.
Foreign Minister Alfred Mutua thanked the country that allowed Kenyans fleeing Sudan to transit and “allowed Kenyan aircraft to fly over its airspace”.
The ministry’s permanent secretary, Roseline Njogu, shared photos of 29 students who are currently in Gondor, Ethiopia after fleeing Sudan.
She said the group would be flown home later.
Hundreds of Kenyans are on their way to Port Sudan, from where they will be airlifted, the ministry said.
As the fighting in Sudan continues, some countries have evacuated their citizens to other countries, including Djibouti, Egypt and Ethiopia, and some have evacuated back home.
At least 77 South African nationals, including embassy staff, are on their way out of the Sudanese capital, the South African government said on Monday. (Associated Press)
