World News | Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2024 sees surge in interest as registrations open

dubai [UAE]8th June (ANI/WAM): Following the conclusion of the 32nd Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, organized by the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Center (ALC), Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi – Abu Dhabi, has Registration opens for the 33rd edition, to be held in May 2024.

Reflecting the show’s status as a major cultural moment, there is an increasing number of people requesting available booths of different sizes to secure participation in the next edition. It has become an important annual platform and conference center for publishers in the region and around the world.

Current registration numbers show that 322 booths (excluding government booths) have been booked, which is about 64% of the available booths.

Local exhibitors and publishers are showing increasing interest, with UAE-based participants accounting for the majority of registrations for the show in 2024, accounting for 44%.

Entities from different countries also expressed their interest by reserving available booths: 10% for Egypt, 7% each for the Republic of Turkey and Lebanon, 6% for Syria and 5% for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The most in-demand are medium-sized booths ranging from 16 to 36 square meters, accounting for 50% of booking requests. Stands between 9 and 15 square meters were in demand at 38 percent, while 12 percent expressed interest in larger stands over 36 square meters.

In addition to the continued success of the show, the recent third consecutive year of waiving rental and participation fees has also made the prospect of exhibiting attractive.

The program supports local, Arabic and international publishers and is in line with ALC’s strategy to grow the publishing industry and promote Arabic as a language of culture, knowledge and creativity.

Following the successful Book Fair 2023 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center from 22-28 May, anticipation is high for the next event. It is the largest in terms of space, number of participants and venue.

It saw more than 800 guests and speakers from more than 85 countries around the world and more than 1,300 exhibitors and publishers, showcasing more than 500,000 titles in different languages. (ANI/WAM)
