World News | Ajit Doval and Vietnamese Foreign Minister reaffirm commitment to deepen strategic partnership

New Delhi [India]A joint press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India stated that Ajit Doval, National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister of India, and Ajit Doval, National Security Adviser of Vietnam, held a bilateral security cooperation dialogue in New Delhi on April 10.

Dr. Thu Lam, Member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and Minister of Public Security of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, attended the delegation-level meeting.

According to a joint press release, a Vietnamese delegation is visiting India from April 9-10 at the invitation of the Indian Prime Minister’s National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, KC.

The leaders reiterated that the two sides are committed to further deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, strengthening ties in the fields of strategy, security and defense, and contributing to the maintenance of peace, prosperity and stability of the two countries, the region and the world.

The two sides took note of the discussions during the second India-Vietnam Vice-Ministerial Security Dialogue in New Delhi in September 2022, and agreed to strengthen current cooperation in the exchange, capacity building and training of Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security officials.

Leaders further reaffirmed the importance of maintaining and promoting peace, stability, maritime safety and security, and freedom of navigation and overflight in the Indo-Pacific region. Both sides also emphasized the importance of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS). They reiterated their belief that any differences must be resolved peacefully, through respect for international law, and not by resorting to threats, aggression, or unilateral or forcible changes in the status quo. The two sides also exchanged views on recent developments in their respective regions.

It is worth noting that General Ph To Lam was visited by Nityanand Rai, Minister of State for Home Affairs. The official release said the Vietnamese Minister of Public Security also called Indian Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar. (Arnie)
