Earlier, on Wednesday, Pakistan’s Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Khan arrived at the federal judiciary complex shortly after the Islamabad High Court (IHC) directed him to contact the relevant accountability court within three working days.

In the Al-Qadir Trust case, the judge extended Khan’s bail until June 19 with a bond worth Rs 500,000.

The Al-Qadir Trust case alleges that the PTI chief and his wife Bushra Bibi received billions of rupees and land worth hundreds of qanaals from a real estate company for legalizing the UK under the previous PTI government.

The arrest of the head of PTI on May 9 sparked protests across Pakistan. The PTI chief had immediately contacted the IHC seeking release, but the IHC had declared his arrest legal, Dawn reported.

Imran then contacted the Supreme Court, which on May 11 called his arrest “null and illegal” and directed him to appear in court the next day.

The IHC then granted Imran a two-week bail in the case and prevented authorities from arresting the PTI chief in any case registered in Islamabad after May 9 until May 17.

Meanwhile, the Islamabad Accountability Court declared the PTI chief’s wife Bushra Bibi’s bail plea in the Al Qadir Trust case “futile” after NAB investigator Mian Umer Nadeem said her arrest was “not needed”.

Judge Mohammad Bashir presided over the hearing. Bibi, her lawyer Khawaja Harris and NAB Deputy Attorney General Sardar Muzaffar Abbasi appeared in court, Dawn reported.

At the start of the hearing, Abbasi said, “Imran issued a statement on May 13 in which he used inappropriate language against NAB, the chairman and spread falsehoods against an accountable regulator. publicity.”

He argued that the purpose of the PTI chief’s statement was to put pressure on NAB. “We never raided or assaulted Imran’s residence in Zaman Park and we never issued an arrest warrant for his wife,” the attorney general said.

The federal government had earlier placed PTI Chief Khan’s name on the Export Control List (ECL) amid the £190 million (PKR 60 billion) National Crime Agency (NCA) scandal, ARY News reported.

ARY News is a Pakistani news channel that provides comprehensive news coverage and updates on topics ranging from politics, business and finance, currency and stock markets to fashion entertainment and weather updates.

Khan’s name was included in the ECL at the request of Rawalpindi’s National Accountability Bureau after approval by the Union Cabinet, the sources said. (Arnie)
