thimpu [Bhutan]March 19 (ANI): The Bhutan Judo team has won two golds, two silvers and four bronzes at the Nepal Sports Federation International Judo Championships, Bhutan Live reported on Sunday.
The three-day competition is scheduled to end on Monday.
This year’s medal total has improved significantly as Bhutan only managed two bronze medals at the 2018 competition.
According to the “Bhutan Live” report, the Bhutan judo team participating in the competition is composed of two girls and eleven boys, all aged between 11 and 18 years old.
They participated in activities for U-15, U-18 and U-21 children.
Bhutan claimed two medals in the under-15 category on Saturday. 12-year-old Tandin Dorji Wangmo won the silver medal in the girls’ category. According to The Bhutan Live, 12-year-old Jigme Yangsel Dorji won the bronze medal in the men’s category.
Lhuendup Dorji and Jigme Yoesel Norbu won the Under-18 boys’ gold on Sunday, Tenzin Dorji took silver and Kinga Norbu and Yeshey Nidup took bronze.
In the Under-18 Girls category, Minjur Peldon won the Bronze Medal.
The 13 judokas have been practicing for the competition for about two months. These judokas were selected from the 2022 Winter Judo Camp and Championships.
