WASHINGTON, April 10 (AP) — Not even the annual White House Easter egg hunt can avoid presidential politics.

President Joe Biden, the host of Monday’s celebration on the South Lawn, said he plans to attend “at least three or four Easter egg rolls, maybe five.”

Biden alluded to his expected re-election bid, but the president gave no reason when pressed by Al Roker for the news on NBC’s “Today” show. He repeated what he had been saying for months.

“I’m going to run, Al, but we’re not ready to announce it yet,” Biden told Roque.

Biden and first lady Jill Biden made an early appearance on the lawn to speak to Roker after the gates opened at 7 a.m., before addressing the crowd from the White House balcony before joining the ” The Egg Ceremony”.Around 30,000 people, mostly children, are expected to attend in nine waves ending at 7pm

The first lady’s theme is “EGGucation.” Jill Biden, a teacher, incorporated many learning opportunities into the event.

The White House Easter Egg Hunt dates back to 1878, when President Rutherford B. Hayes opened the White House lawn to children after they were kicked out of the U.S. Capitol. (Associated Press)
