Pope marks Vatican II’s 60th birthday

Funeral for Christopher’s deceased

He later shot his wife and children before turning the gun on himself. “We are saddened by this tragic event, especially for the young children who have not had the opportunity to defend themselves and have no means of fighting,” the bishop said.

Texas Diocese to Host High Holy Day Services

St. Matthew, a Episcopal Church A High Holy Day service was held last month for the Beth Israel congregation in Austin, Texas, as repairs continued as the synagogue was damaged in an arson attack a year earlier, ENS reported. An 18-year-old Texas State Guard member who set fire to the building is facing federal arson and hate crime charges. Episcopal Church welcomes cannabis pardon

The White House pardon for all previous federal crimes of simple marijuana possession has been welcomed by the Episcopal Church. The amnesty is expected to affect about 6,500 people. “We also welcome requests from the governor for similar action, as the majority of the prison population resides at the state level,” the church statement said. In 1973, the General Convention recommended that possession or personal use of marijuana be considered a misdemeanor. “Since then, we have continued to advocate for an end to mass incarceration, an end to racial disparities in sentencing, and an alternative to incarceration for those struggling with addiction or mental illness.”

St. Philip, Uwald, Opens Grief Counseling Center

The Episcopal Church in Uwald, Texas, was killed on May 24 in a shooting at Rob Elementary School in the town of 19 children and two adults, ENS reported. A building on the campus of St Philip’s Episcopal Church and School will become the permanent branch of the South Texas Children’s Bereavement Center, a charity that has been working in a church room since the shooting.
