Henan [China]April 12 (ANI): The Henan provincial government has suspended several infrastructure projects related to railways, electricity and roads, among others, as it faces severe fiscal austerity.
Henan is a province in the Yellow River basin in central China.
The government has not paid rent for the land plots leased from individual citizens for public works.
The current financial difficulties facing the Henan government can be attributed to the sharp decline in the valuation of the real estate industry, which is the government’s main source of revenue.

However, the local business community wants the central government to provide sufficient funding to the provincial government and improve economic conditions by May 2023.
Fox News recently reported that authorities in China’s Henan province are forcing people of faith to register for worship on a “smart religion” app.
Henan is one of the most devout provinces in the secularized country and has one of the most active Christian communities in China.
According to ChinaAid, a Chinese human rights advocacy group, religious figures in Henan must fill out a government form and verify their place of worship before gathering with other believers.
“Applicants must fill in personal information, including name, phone number, ID number, usual residence, occupation and date of birth, before they can make a reservation,” the group reported.
“Those who are allowed to enter the church must also have their temperature taken and show the booking code,” it added.
ChinaAid released a report on the new system on March 6.
A monitoring system is required for all citizens seeking worship, regardless of religion – citizens can choose affiliation with churches, Buddhist temples, mosques, etc.
According to Fox News, Smart Religion was developed by the Ethnic and Religious Affairs Commission of Henan Province. (Arnie)
