BEIJING, May 26 (PTI) — China’s first domestically-made airliner, the C919, is scheduled to make its maiden commercial flight on Sunday, media reported on Friday.
State-owned China Eastern Airlines (CEA), the initial customer, will launch its first commercial flight from Shanghai to Beijing on May 28, state-run CGTN television reported.

The C919 was developed by COMAC and obtained the type certificate issued by the Civil Aviation Administration of China in September last year.
China Eastern Airlines conducted a 100-hour verification flight of its first C919 aircraft on December 26, 2022, to verify and confirm the operational safety of the aircraft.
So far, more than 1,200 C919 jetliners have been ordered, according to COMAC.
According to estimates, China has 6,795 civil aircraft in 2020, mainly Boeing and Airbus.
The entry of Chinese aircraft could reduce reliance on Boeing and Airbus and could compete with them in the international civil aviation market, officials said.
