World News | Chinese state media calls new US stealth bomber a ‘propaganda sample’

Beijing [China]Dec. 5 (ANI): Chinese state media has played down the significance of the US’s newly unveiled strategic bomber, the B-21 Raider, calling the world’s first sixth-generation aircraft a “propaganda sample”.

Last week, the U.S. and defense technology company Northrop Grumman jointly unveiled the B-21 Raider stealth bomber in California to much fanfare.

Although the Global Times refuted the propaganda surrounding the stealth bomber, it said that “weapons regarded as the ‘killer mace’ of major powers are strictly kept secret, but the marketing and promotion of the B-21 can be called an ‘internet celebrity’.”

Speaking at the ceremony in California, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said the B-21’s advantage will last for decades. Austin explained that the B-21 bomber will not be based in a theater, it needs no logistical support to threaten any targets, and the most advanced air defense systems will have difficulty detecting the stealthy aircraft.

He added that the B-21 would be the most maintainable bomber ever built, designed to deliver both conventional and nuclear munitions with astonishing precision.

According to the Global Times, the B-21 “Raider” instruction is intended to obtain more budget from the US Congress by exaggerating the threat of China’s military power.

Regardless of the actual technical level of the B-21, the mouthpiece of the state media said in an editorial, “It is more like a propaganda sample, it is the US military-industrial complex that needs to ensure the military budget and the military promotes so-called comprehensive deterrence against China .”

The US multinational Northrop Grumman said in a statement that the B-21 raider forms the backbone of the future of US air power. Its sixth-generation capabilities include stealth, information superiority, and open architecture.

“The B-21 Raider is a testament to America’s enduring advantage in ingenuity and innovation. It is a testament to the Department of Defense’s long-standing commitment to building advanced capabilities to enhance America’s ability to deter aggression today and in the future. Now, strengthen our ability to maintain America’s deterrence Power is at the heart of our national defense strategy,” Austin said.

“The bomber was built on strong bipartisan support in Congress. Because of that support, we will soon be flying the aircraft, testing it, and going into production,” he added. (Arnie)
