PARIS, Feb. 22 (AP) — A teacher was stabbed to death by a high school student in southwestern France on Wednesday, French authorities and media reported.
Prosecutors in Bayonne said the student had been arrested by police.
A senior administration official, speaking on condition of anonymity because he was not allowed to discuss the issue publicly, said the first element of the police briefing indicated the attacker had serious mental health problems.
French media reported that the student, born in 2007, said he had been told he was being told to kill the 53-year-old Spanish teacher at the Saint-Jean-de-Luz private Catholic school.
Education Minister Pap Ndiaye will be at the school later on Wednesday.
