New Delhi [India]February 25 (ANI): German Chancellor Olaf Schulz arrived in New Delhi today for a visit to India on February 25-26.

Scholz was accompanied by senior officials and a high-ranking business delegation, and his visit to India was the first solo visit by any German chancellor since the start of the intergovernmental consultation (IGC) mechanism between the two countries in 2011, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said in a press release.

At 10am, Scholz will be greeted with great pomp and ceremony in the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhawan. He will also hold talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, where the two leaders will discuss bilateral, regional and global issues.

Prime Minister Modi and Schultz will also interact with CEOs and business leaders from both sides. Scholz will also meet with President Droupadi Murmu.

According to the MEA press release, he will travel to Bengaluru on February 26.

Scholz’s visit will allow the two countries to assess and advance key outcomes of the sixth Intergovernmental Consultation (IGC), strengthen security and defense cooperation, work towards closer economic ties, increase opportunities for talent mobility and provide strategic guidance on an ongoing basis Carry out scientific and technological cooperation.

In a press release, the MEA stated, “The India-Germany strategic partnership is based on shared values, trust and mutual understanding. The MEA further noted that the two countries are also cooperating closely at multilateral and international platforms, especially as part of the G4 on UN Security Council reform.
