New Delhi [India]23rd February (ANI): Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar met Guyana Vice President Bharrat Jagdeo on Thursday and the two leaders agreed to continue efforts to strengthen bilateral partnerships in various sectors including oil and gas, agriculture, agro-processing, education and healthcare relationship, according to official statements.

“Bharrat Jagdeo is on an official visit to India from 20-25 February 2023 at the invitation of the Vice President of India. He is accompanied by Ashni Singh, Senior Minister in the Office of the President responsible for Finance, and a senior official. Senior official from Guyana and business delegations,” the ministry’s press statement read.

Jagdeo met Indian Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Thursday. The two leaders appreciated the close and friendly relationship between India and Guyana based on strong people-to-people ties, economic ties and shared approach on multilateral issues.

“Honorable Vice President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar met with Guyana Vice President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo in New Delhi today. Both leaders acknowledged the long-standing strong bilateral relationship between the two countries and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen Indo-Guyana relations,” India The vice president tweeted.

The press release added that the two leaders agreed to continue efforts to strengthen bilateral partnerships in various fields including oil and gas, agriculture, agro-processing, education, healthcare, capacity building, information and communication technology, renewable energy and climate change.

Jagdeo was visited by Foreign Minister S Jaishankar and Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Narendra Singh Tomar. The visiting Vice-President is also expected to call on Indian President Droupadi Murmu tomorrow to meet Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Chemicals and Fertilizers Dr Mansukh Mandaviya and Minister of Oil and Gas, Housing and Urban Affairs, Hardeep Singh Puri.

Additionally, Jagdeo will be participating in the World Sustainability Summit organized by TERI (Energy Research Institute) in New Delhi from February 22nd to 24th.

Jagdeo’s visit follows the visit of President Dr. Irfaan Ali, who visited India in January 2023 as the chief guest of the 17th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas.

The press release added that the high-level exchanges between India and Guyana reflect the renewed energy and momentum in the bilateral relationship. (Arnie)
