Kerala (Trivandrum) [India]March 31 (ANI): External Affairs Minister V. Muraleedharan of India attended the opening of the second Facilitators’ Meeting under India’s G20 presidency in Kumarakom, Kerala, on Friday.
Speaking at the event, he said he believed the Sherpas would vigorously advance the discussions and further achieve the ambitious outcome.
“Great to attend the opening of the 2nd #G20 Sherpa meeting in Kumarakom, Kerala,” he wrote in a tweet.
“Confidence that the Sherpas will push the discussions further towards an ambitious, inclusive, decisive and action-oriented outcome,” the tweet further read.

The second G20 coordinator meeting is presided over by G20 coordinator Kant of India, and more than 120 representatives from the world’s 20 largest economies, 9 invited countries, and international and regional organizations will attend the meeting.
According to an official statement, the event will address a range of issues of global concern.
During the four-day meeting, delegates will reportedly engage in multilateral discussions on the G20’s economic and development priorities and responses to contemporary global challenges.
The deliberations of the facilitators meetings will advance the outcomes of the various facilitators follow-up and financial follow-up meetings. The deliberations will form the basis of the leaders’ declaration, which is due to be adopted at a summit in New Delhi in September 2023, the official press release said.
India’s G20 coordinator, Amitabh Kant, will also lead discussions with the G20 troika comprising India, Indonesia and Brazil. He will meet with G20 coordinators and heads of delegations of G20 members, invitees and international organizations, including emerging market economies (EMEs), to discuss issues relevant to the Global South and advanced economies (AEs), to discuss common Priorities and a mutually beneficial approach move forward.
In a press release, the MEA noted that India had chosen the G20 priorities, taking into account today’s diverse global challenges, the concerns of developing countries and the need for greater momentum for collective action to advance a common international agenda, especially development and environmental agenda.
India’s G20 theme “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam” – “One Planet. One Family. One Future” encapsulates the G20’s shared vision to galvanize broad support and achieve decisive, ambitious, inclusive and action-oriented outcomes. These outcomes require the G20 to work together as one family to instill hope in people.
Ongoing deliberations under India’s G20 presidency include Green Development, Climate Finance and Environmental Lifestyles (LiFE), Accelerated, Inclusive and Resilient Growth, Accelerating Progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Technological Transformation and Digital Commons facilities, multilateral institutions and women-led development in the 21st century.
According to the MEA press release, these priorities demonstrate the needs of the global South, which were voiced by the 125 participating countries at the first-ever Global South Voices Summit. The Global Southern Voices Summit will be chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in January 2023.
