New Delhi [India]October 3 (ANI): India has handed over Indian-made motorcycles to the Lebanese government as part of bilateral aid, the Ministry of External Affairs of India (MEA) said on Monday.

“As part of India’s bilateral assistance, the Secretary of State has also handed over Indian-made motorcycles to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration of Lebanon and Beirut Province,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Alindan Bach said in a tweet.

These Indian-made motorcycles were handed over to Secretary (CPV and OIA) Dr. Osaf Saeed during his visit to Lebanon on 3-4 October. “Prior to his official visit, he visited Syria on October 2, 2022,” MEA said in a press release.

He visited Dr. Abdullah Bou Habib, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration of Lebanon, and discussed a range of bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual interest.

“He also met Hani Chemetelli, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration. During the meeting, the two sides identified key areas for bilateral cooperation, including trade, people-to-people and cultural exchanges, vocational training, etc. The Secretary (CPV & OIA) will also work with Beirut City governors to meet,” the ministry said.

The Secretary (CPV & OIA) also handed over Indian-made motorcycles to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration and Beirut Province as part of India’s bilateral assistance. The Minister (CPV & OIA) also announced that a prosthetic assembly camp (Jaipur Foot) will soon be organized in Lebanon.

The Secretaries (CPV and OIA) also participated in a high-level business seminar attended by Industry Minister George Bouchekian. A number of areas to facilitate trade were identified, including food and agribusiness, pharmaceuticals, gems and jewellery, electronics, solar cells, small vehicles, and more.

The Lebanese side also appreciates the active role played by the Indian battalion in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).

The visit of the secretaries (CPV and OIA) to Lebanon refreshes bilateral relations and will pave the way for closer ties in the future. (ANI)
