New Delhi [India]September 17 (ANI): The India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR) is being held in Delhi to promote economic cooperation between the two countries.
The foreign ministers, finance ministers and trade ministers of the two countries will attend the meeting.

Earlier, India hosted a high-level Singaporean ministerial delegation on Saturday to promote cooperation between the two countries.

Minister for Foreign Affairs S Jaishankar, Minister for Finance Nirmala Sitharaman and Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal met with Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Minister of Foreign Affairs Min Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister of Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong and Minister of Transport and Minister of Trade Relations S Iswaran.
Notably, India is hosting the first-ever India-India Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR), a new ministerial platform for promoting economic cooperation between the two countries.
Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister Huang Xun Cai will pay a visit to India from September 17 to 21, which will be his first official visit to India since taking office.
Wong will join the country’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister of Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong, Minister and Minister of Transport – the inaugural India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR) in New Delhi on September 17, 2022 at the Prime Minister’s Office of Singapore at Iswaran, who is in charge of trade relations, said in a statement.
ISMR is a new ministerial-level platform between Singapore and India to deepen existing cooperation and identify opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation in emerging areas. Vice Premier Huang will also meet senior Indian leaders and celebrities.
Deputy Prime Minister Huang will travel to Gujarat on September 18, 2022 to meet Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel and visit Gujarat International Financial City. Vice Premier Huang will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Finance.
India and Singapore have developed a close bilateral relationship based on the convergence of economic and political interests. India’s economic reforms since the early 1990s have laid a solid foundation for cooperation with Singapore, opening up the possibility of a significant presence in each other’s economies.
For India, Singapore has played an important role in reconnecting us with Southeast Asian countries since the implementation of the Look East Policy in the early 1990s. As diverse societies, both countries share similar concerns about the challenges posed by terrorism and fundamentalism.
