According to the official introduction, during the 16-day joint training, the two armies conducted complex and comprehensive air maneuvers in multiple simulated combat scenarios.
“The exercise involved precise planning and skillful execution by both air forces. The Indian Air Force and the Japan Air Self-Defense Force conducted air combat maneuvers, intercept and air defense missions in both visual range and beyond visual range environments. The aircrews of the two participating air forces also participated in each other’s fighter jets in order to gain a better understanding of each other’s operational philosophy,” the statement said.
The “Veer Guardian 2023” exercise provides an opportunity for the air forces of the two countries to increase mutual understanding. The exercise also saw numerous ground interactions between IAF and JASDF personnel where various aspects were discussed.
“This enables participating contingents to gain insight into each other’s best practices and learn from each other’s unique capabilities,” it said. (Arnie)
