India is in the best position globally. It is now the most populous country in the world — with more than 1.4 billion people — and has enjoyed strong economic growth over the past 30 years, with GDP per capita increasing by 245%, according to Harvard Business Review.

India, as it contemplates its leadership in the world, must set its sights on becoming a stronger technological innovator with more comprehensive capabilities to move up the value chain of software and hardware. This requires a closer and deeper relationship with the United States, both at the government level and at the private sector level.

Recently, in an unprecedented meeting, three Indian ministers and four European Commissioners discussed semiconductor supply chains and artificial intelligence regulation, Sri Lankan publication Daily Mirror Online (DMO) reported. With the Brussels Technology Council, EU officials spoke of “very promising starts”.

James Clyburn is Assistant Democratic Leader of the United States House of Representatives and Chair of the Democratic Faith Task Force. He served in that position from 2011 to 2018 and served as the majority whip from 2007 to 2010 and 2019 to 2022, making him the first African-American to serve consecutively as majority whip.

Clyburn, a native son of South Carolina, has represented the state’s Sixth Congressional District since 1993.

The India-US bilateral relationship has grown into a “global strategic partnership” based on shared democratic values and increasingly converging interests on bilateral, regional and global issues.

Regular exchanges of high-level political visits have promoted the steady development of bilateral relations. (Arnie)
