NEW YORK, June 12 (PTI) Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that Kerala shines as a beacon of progressive thought, where every voice counts and the spirit of unity paves the way for a brighter future.

On Sunday, Vijayan addressed hundreds of members of the state’s diaspora community at a public event in Times Square.

On Saturday, he chaired the Loka Kerala Sabha’s US regional session at the Kerala Non-Resident Congress in New York.

“Over the past six years, we’ve made tremendous progress in every area,” he said.

Speaking at a public event in the heart of the popular Times Square, Vijayan highlighted Kerala’s progressive values, social harmony and equitable growth.

He outlined his administration’s infrastructure and investments in public schools and the health system, among other sectors, as well as economic growth and development. He further stated that the country is a model of inclusive development and has become a model of people-centered progress.

Compassion and social justice drive “our policies to empower marginalized communities and create equal opportunities for all”, the Chief Minister said.

“Kerala shines as a beacon of progressive thought, where every voice counts and a spirit of unity paves the way for a brighter future,” he added.

Vijayan said that while achieving results for the country, he and his government also addressed certain areas of focus.

Kerala has drawn up an action plan that has made the state top in the National Food Security Index. Vijayan pointed out that Kerala has the highest literacy rate and its public schools and hospitals are ranked the best in the country by several agencies including NITI Aayog.

“We have the best law and order situation. All this is possible because the community is always ensured to live in harmony and peace. That’s why Kerala has not had even a single incident of communal violence in the last few years,” He said to cheers and applause from the audience.

He called on Malayans not only in the United States but around the world to “continue to work with us in the coming ages to make your land more and more prosperous”.

The chief minister also noted that Kerala became India’s first state to go fully e-government in May.

“This is a historic milestone in the internationally renowned Kerala model of development and social progress. Through e-government, we are championing transparency, efficiency and inclusiveness.

“We are using technology to ensure seamless access to a wide range of public services, more than 900 of which are now available online.”
