canberra [Australia]June 12 (ANI): Twelve Indian-Australians have been included in the list of honors and awards announced by Governor-General David Hurley AC DSC (Retd), Australia Today reported on Monday.
According to a report published by Australia Today, there are 1,191 Australians on the list, which also includes Orders of Australia (General and Military Branches), Distinguished Awards and recognition of excellence and noteworthy service.

1. Sunita Gloster – Order of Australia (AO)
Sunita Gloster was awarded an Order of Australia (AO) for her significant contribution to the media and marketing industry and gender equality.
Sunita is energized by the process of inspiring and motivating people to take action. Her parents, Betty and John D’Souza OAM, immigrated to Australia from India in 1974.
On this occasion, Sunita said: “We left Mumbai to settle in Mount Gambier. I can’t imagine how much courage it took. I am very grateful to my parents for all the sacrifices they made for my future. I must thank the community of Mount Gambier, My parents still call it home 49 years later because it welcomed us into their lives and Australia.”

Professor Harshal Nandurkar has been awarded a Member of the General Division of the Order of Australia for his significant contributions to medicine, in particular as a haematologist.
He completed his Bachelor of Medicine at the University of Mumbai, then undertook PhD research at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute, followed by postdoctoral research at the Department of Biochemistry, Monash University. He is currently director of the Alfred Health Program in Hematology at the Alfred Cancer Clinic and director of the Australian Center for Blood Diseases at Monash University, Australia Today reported.
5. Dr Virendra Kumar Berera – Order of Australia Medal (OAM)
Dr Virendra Kumar Berera has been awarded the General Department of the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for his services to the Indian community in Victoria.
He is a renowned Victorian doctor and was President of the Federation of Indian Associations of Victoria from 2002 to 2004.
6. Vinod Daniel – Order of Australia Medal (OAM)
Vinod Daniel was awarded the General Department of the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for his contributions to conservation and the environment.
He is an international museum specialist. He was also Chairman of AusHeritage, Chief Executive of the India Vision Institute (IVI) and a Board Member of the Australia India Council of the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade from 2005-2011.

Dr Sunita Siddhu Dhindsa was awarded the General Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for service to the Indian community in the Australian Capital Territory.
Dr Dhindsa holds a PhD in Genetics and a Graduate Diploma in Public Sector Management from Macquarie University. She is a member, founding member, patron and life member of various community organizations and has held various positions.
8. Dr Saba Nabi – Order of Australia Medal (OAM)
Dr Saba Nabi was awarded an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) in the General Department for services to community health, education and multicultural affairs.
Dr. Nabi began working on her PhD and began volunteering at the university, helping international students integrate into higher education and community life. She is recognized as a leading voice in regional Australia communities and she is helping women from different cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
“I was very proactive from day one. I really wanted to get involved because I was homesick and I also wanted to learn about the Australian culture,” Dr Nabi said.
9. Jaishri Patricia Falcetta – Order of Australia Medal (OAM)
Jaishri Patricia Falcetta was awarded an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) in the General Department for service to the community through social welfare organisations.
She is the founder and director of Social Living Solutions and the founder of Family Joy Model. Through her work, she hopes to realize her vision of a world where people with autism and other neurodiversity are accepted, included and considered valued members of society, according to Australia Today.
10. Nishi Puri – Order of Australia Medal (OAM)
Nishi Puri was awarded the General Department of the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for his service to the Indian community in Canberra.
She is a small business owner who employs many newcomers, especially women who have experienced domestic abuse, and supports them to improve their skills.
In 2022, she was appointed Honorary Australian Capital Territory Multicultural Ambassador.
11. Kalpana Sriram – Order of Australia Medal (OAM)
Kalpana Sriram was awarded an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) in the General Department for services to community mental health.
She is Director of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Australia and Founder of Madhuram Academy of Performing Arts. She is also an interim clinician at the NSW Center for Intercultural Mental Health and the Multicultural Center for Problem Gambling.
12. Arun Venkatesha – Order of Australia Medal (OAM)
Arun Venkatesha was awarded the General Department of the Order of Australia Medal (OAM) for his services to the Indian community in Canberra.
Arun is the Treasurer of the Indian Council of Canberra and a founding member of Diwali Mela Inc.
In a statement, the Governor said: “Recipients have made significant contributions and made a significant impact at the local, national or international level. Some have volunteered and others have made a significant impact in professional roles – many They did both.
