London [United Kingdom]May 3 (ANI): A man was arrested on Tuesday evening after approaching the gates of Buckingham Palace and throwing what appeared to be shotgun cartridges inside the palace, the Metropolitan Police said in a statement.
The man was arrested on suspicion of possessing an assault weapon after a knife was recovered from him, according to the Metropolitan Police Service.

A cordon was put in place after the man was spotted carrying a suspicious bag. Experts arrived and after an assessment, police conducted a “controlled explosion” as a precaution.
“Police took immediate action to detain the man, who is in police custody. There have been no reports of any shootings or injuries to officers or members of the public,” Chief Superintendent Joseph MacDonald said in a statement .
“Officers remain at the scene and further investigations are ongoing. We are not treating this matter as terrorism-related at this time,” he said. (Arnie)
