Islamabad [Pakistan]Feb 21 (ANI): Pakistani Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari claimed mixed signals from Pakistan were the reason for Afghan Taliban’s inaction against Pakistani Taliban Movement (TTP), Dawn newspaper reported.
In an interview with German broadcaster DW Urdu, Zardari said the Pakistan Justice Instigation (PTI) government had asked the Taliban to facilitate reconciliation with the TTP and planned to resettle militants in Pakistan, Dawn reported.
According to Zardari, every Pakistani demands that terrorists involved in attacks such as the army public school massacre can never be friends of the country.
The minister had earlier accused PTI of negotiating with terrorists without any preconditions.
“Those who don’t accept Pakistan, who don’t accept the constitution, I don’t think it’s in the interest of Pakistan or its people to negotiate with them,” Zardari told DW Urdu.
The chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) said the withdrawal of Western forces has created space for various terrorist groups in Afghanistan, posing a huge challenge to the country.
More recently, the TTP warned of more attacks in Pakistan following the attack on the Karachi police chief’s office, Business Recorder reported.
“Police should stay away from our war with the slave army, otherwise attacks on safe havens for senior police officers will continue,” TTP said in an English-language statement on Saturday.
“We want to warn security agencies again to stop killing innocent prisoners in fake encounters, otherwise the intensity of future attacks will be even greater,” it said.
Four people were killed in an hours-long battle between terrorists and law enforcement agencies – including Pakistan Army Special Forces (SSG), Pakistan Rangers Sindh and Sindh Police – at the Karachi police station in Sharea Faisal on Friday , 19 people were injured, according to Dawn reports.
All three terrorists belonging to the outlawed organization TTP were killed.
The Karachi Police Office was raided at 7.10pm on Friday, while police and Pakistan Rangers cleared the five-storey building in stages, eventually sweeping the entire office around 10.46pm.
Police are often deployed on the front lines of Pakistan’s fight against the Taliban and are frequently targeted by militants who accuse them of extrajudicial killings.
Imran Khan recently blamed the negligence of Pakistan’s security forces and intelligence agencies for the rise in terrorism in the country, the Pakistan-based Dawn newspaper reported.
In an interview with Voice of America (VOA) aired on Saturday, Khan addressed the criticism that PTI has faced over its decision to negotiate with the outlawed Pakistani Taliban Movement (TTP) before the party is ousted from power. (Arnie)
