WASHINGTON, June 9 (PTI) — Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s state visit to the United States later this month at the invitation of President Joe Biden is a strong signal that the future of both countries is together, Atulk Sharp, chairman of the US India Business Council (USIBC), said.
“This is only the third state visit of the Biden administration. India is now one of our closest friends. In fact, the prime minister and the president have agreed to this, and their coming together is a powerful message from the top of every government.” A signal that our future is together,” Keshap said in an interview with PTI.
Responding to a question about what to expect from the visit, Keshap said he hoped it would send a strong signal to the business communities of both countries that they are each other’s preferred partners and that investment and trade can go both ways with the endorsement of both governments.
“I have made it clear over and over again that we must not wait to achieve the US-India trade target of $500 billion a year. We only have $190 billion. I would like to see some energy deals between the US and India. I would like to see semiconductors and chips, etc. In terms of transactions, we can reduce risk in the supply chain,” Keshap said.

“In order for the US and India to be strong, to have a strong deterrent, we need our companies, our private sector working together. So IndUSX at the AmCham on June 20th is our contribution to that, ’ he added.
Modi will be on a state visit to the US from June 21-24.
