KATHMANDU, May 27 (PTI) A Nepal Airlines plane bound for Bengaluru was forced to return to Tribhuvan International Airport after its right wing blade was damaged, apparently due to a bird strike.
TIA spokesman Teknath Sitaula said the A320 of Nepal’s flag carrier landed safely at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) and technicians were checking the aircraft.
According to news portal Nepal News, the flight took off from TIA at 1.45pm and was forced to return to the same airport 25 minutes later.
A blade on the plane’s right wing was damaged, officials said. Passengers on board flight RA-225 reported hearing a loud bang, the Himalayan Times quoted TIA sources as saying.

“The plane was diverted to Kathmandu and it is suspected that it was struck by a bird during takeoff,” Sitaura said.
Airport officials said the passengers had been on another flight from TIA to Bengaluru.
The A320 can carry up to 180 passengers.
