ISLAMABAD, Dec. 31 (PTI) Army Chief of Staff Gen. Syed Asim Munir said on Saturday that Pakistan is passing through a critical phase and urged all stakeholders to join hands in tackling the twin problems of terrorism and the economy.
Speaking at the parade of the 118th Marines and 26th Short Service Commission at the Pakistan Naval Academy in Karachi, he said there was a need for a national consensus on the nation’s problems.
“(COAS) stated that Pakistan is going through one of her most critical moments, which requires a national consensus among all stakeholders to weather the challenges facing the economy and terrorism,” the Army said in a statement.
He said the maritime domain is constantly changing mainly due to technological advancements and only those navies that match the professionalism and trends of modern warfare will win and prove effective.
COAS is grateful to Pakistan Naval Academy for providing quality education not only to Pakistani cadets but also to cadets from friendly countries.
General Munir advises young officers as future leaders to lead by their conduct, character, professional acuity and vision.
He also congratulated the successful completion of his military service training to become the guardian of Pakistan’s maritime borders.
