World News | Pakistan, Afghanistan in ‘diplomatic spat’ over Jem chief Masood Azhar

[ad_1]

Islamabad [Pakistan]September 15 (ANI): Pakistan and Afghanistan have engaged in a new diplomatic spat over Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) chief Maulana Masood Azhar.

Pakistan has reportedly sent a letter to the Taliban regarding the presence of Masood Azhar, saying the leader of the Jammu movement is likely to be in the Nangarhar and Kunhar regions of Afghanistan.

Shafqat Ali wrote in Pakistani newspaper The Nation that Islamabad reportedly demanded that the defunct JeM chief must be found and handed over to Pakistan.

Yesterday, Talibani spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid denied Azar was in Afghanistan and said he was actually in Pakistan, Tolo News reported.

“The leader of the Jaesh-e-Mohammad group is not in Afghanistan. It’s a group that could be in Pakistan. Anyway, he’s not in Afghanistan and we haven’t been asked such a question. We’re on the news. Our reaction is that it’s not true. ,”He says.

The report comes after Paris-based international regulator the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) forced Islamabad to take action against some UN-designated terrorists, offering the possibility of being removed from the greylist now.

It is worth noting that Pakistan’s recent actions against Sajid Mir, commander of Operation Lashkar e Taiba (LeT), are the result of continued pressure from the FATF on Pakistan.

Pakistan insists that al-Azhar is not in Pakistan and most likely in Afghanistan. Despite Pakistan’s claims that he could not be traced, he continued to post on Pakistani social media networks, exhorting JeM cadres to indulge in jihad, and extolling the Taliban takeover of Kabul, claiming that a Taliban victory would be a victory for Muslims elsewhere, according to South Asia. Open the way press. (ANI)
