Speaking to media sources after his appointment, Khan pledged to “fully cooperate” with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to hold “free and fair elections” in the province.
Efforts will be made to further strengthen the security situation in KP and control inflation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said.
The provincial assembly was dissolved on Wednesday after the governor signed and approved the chief minister’s brief on dissolving the KP.
The developments follow the dissolution of the Punjab parliament last week, as Pakistan Justice Instigation (PTI) chief Imran Khan pledged to disassociate himself from the “current corrupt political system” by quitting both parliaments.
Dawn reported that Punjab has yet to appoint a caretaker CM due to the stalemate between the government and the opposition. (Arnie)
