Protesters said BJP leader Ghulam Mohammad Junejo not only insulted Dr. Ghansham Das, but slapped him in front of other staff and police, Dawn reported.

They demanded the arrest of the arrogant leaders and warned that a symbolic boycott would continue until their demands were met.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court of Pakistan formed a Minority Rights Commission headed by Dr. Shoaib Suddle, which has taken note of the torture of Dr. Ghansham Das.

The commission’s director-general, Qasim Khan, sought a detailed report on the torture of doctors in India. According to Dawn, the committee was established by the Supreme Court in 2019 to oversee the implementation of its judgment on minority rights (PLD 2014 SC 699).

Activists say Pakistan’s human rights record has fallen to a new low, with several media reports and global institutions reflecting the tragic plight of the country’s women, minorities, children and media personalities.

Forced conversions and attacks on minority communities have become more rampant in Sindh. Underage girls of Hinduism, Sikhism and Christianity are always under coercion, and forced conversions have become an increasingly common phenomenon in the country. (ANI)
