Islamabad [Pakistan]October 25 (ANI): Pakistan’s Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar resigned on Monday night for personal reasons, the Express Tribune reported.
In his resignation letter, Talal cited personal reasons for resigning as Sheikh Baz Sharif’s cabinet minister. Dawn newspaper reported that Talal offered to resign, citing “anti-establishment slogans” at an event in Lahore on Sunday.
“I am disappointed by the way a small group of participants at AJCON22 behaved unnecessarily by chanting slogans against state institutions without listing what has been achieved so far for their benefit. We must respect each other’s Views #signs of a democratic society,” he said in a tweet on Sunday.
The resignation comes after three Pakistani High Court judges were promoted after a nine-month stalemate.
Talar is also said to be under intense pressure to vote for some of the justices who have been promoted to the Supreme Court, Dawn reported.
At the Asma Jahangir conference in Lahore earlier on Sunday, some in the audience began chanting anti-military slogans in front of ministers and journalists.
Pakistani Prime Minister Sheikh Baz Sharif condemned such slogans and said it was unfortunate that these forums were being used to target these institutions.
“Unfortunately, these forums are used to target state institutions, especially the armed forces, for partisan political gain,” Sheikh Baz said in a statement. (ANI)
