Islamabad [Pakistan]December 23 (ANI): A police officer has been killed after a suicide bomber blew himself up in Islamabad, police in the Pakistani capital said on Friday.

At least six people, including four police officers and two civilians, were injured in the incident in Islamabad’s I-10 district, Islamabad police said in a statement.

Police said in a tweet that they were conducting vehicle inspections and signaling suspicious vehicles to stop.

“Shortly after the car stopped near the police, a suicide bomber in the car blew himself up,” Islamabad police said.

In a tweet, the police further stated that based on initial reports, a police officer identified as Sergeant Adil Hussain was killed in the incident.

“Police and a large task force have arrived at the scene. Further details will be communicated,” police said in a statement.

Earlier, the Dawn newspaper reported that television footage showed the burning wreckage of a car – the presumed source of the explosion – with a large police presence at the scene.

The vehicle stalled when police flagged it for a check, the broadcaster said.

A day earlier, the Islamabad police issued a statement saying that its Eagles had checked 2,024 suspicious persons, motorcycles and vehicles as part of security measures, especially after the latest incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan provinces. After the wave of terrorism.
