[ad_1]

Islamabad [Pakistan], Nov 27 (ANI): Pakistan Justice Movement senator Azam Swati has been arrested for the second time in two months. The arrest came after his tweets contained strong language aimed at senior military officials, including outgoing Pakistan Army chief Gen. Kamal Javed Bajwa.

The complaint was filed against Swati and three other Twitter users named @Wolf1Ak, @HaqeeqatTV_20 and @Azaadi99. The complaint against them was lodged by Aneesur Rehman, Technical Assistant, Cybercrime Reporting Center, Islamabad. The first information report was registered under Section 20 (Crimes Involving Offenses Against Personal Dignity), Sections 500, 501 (Relating to Defamation), Section 131 (Preventing Officers from Performing Duties) of the Prevention of Electronic Crime Act 2016 ), Sections 505 (Declaration of Intent to Cause Public Harm), Sections 501 and 109 (Abetting) of Pakistan Panel Act as reported by Dawn

In a flurry of tweets this month, all Twitter users, including Swati, exchanged views defaming the country’s defense establishment, The Dawn reported. On Nov. 19, @Azaadi99 shared a tweet arguing that military officials are responsible for the country’s current downfall. Thank you Swati for that. On Nov 24th, @Wolf1Ak tweeted that “tabdeli” or must start change by cleaning out corrupt generals. Swati tweeted again to express his gratitude. On the same day, @HaqeeqatTV_20 posted some tweets about the retiring General Bajwa. Swati answered the question with strong language. On November 26, Swati tweeted that he would go after senior military officers in all possible forums.

It was mentioned in the FIR that these threatening tweets were “a mischievous subversive act aimed at creating a rift among members of the armed forces to endanger the Pakistani state”. The FIR said that through offensive tweets and comments on inflammatory tweets, the defendants attempted to induce military personnel to abdicate from their duties as subordinates,” adding that this was a “planned and repeated attempt” reported by Dawn Swati .

In the past, Swati was also arrested for tweets he posted in October of this month about spreading hatred against the defense establishment. In his speech at PTI’s Power Show, he referred to the torture and beatings he suffered during his previous arrest. PTI chairman and former PM of Pakistan Imran Khan has mentioned the same thing on several other occasions.

Several senior leaders, including PTI secretary-general Asad Umar and Imran Khan, condemned the arrest of Senator Swati. According to The Dawn, Khan expressed shock at Swati’s arrest, mentioning his shock at how quickly the country had turned into a banana republic.

These arrests come at a time when the PTI Long March has become a major political issue in Pakistan and the current Pakistani regime has repeatedly tried to stop it. (Arnie)
