HARTLAND (U.S.), Oct. 25 (AP) — Six people were shot dead in an apparent murder-suicide after an apartment fire in a southern Wisconsin village last week, according to police.
The bodies of a couple and their four children were found early Friday after firefighters were called to their burning apartment in Heartland. The ten remaining tenants in the four-unit building left safely.
All the victims suffered one gunshot wound, Hartland Police Chief Torin Misko said Monday night. Connor McKisick, the father of four and stepfather, suffered self-inflicted gunshot wounds, Misko said.
The other dead included a 14-year-old girl, Jessica McKisick, a 12-year-old girl and two 3-year-old boys, who all lived with Connor McKisick in one of the apartments. Police have not identified the children, but officials at the girls’ school identified the older girls as Natalie Kleemeier and her sister Sofina Kleemeier.

All of the deceased suffered one gunshot wound, Misko said. There was also evidence of flammable liquids in the apartment where multiple guns were found, he said.
“This is a tragic event for the families of the deceased, our first responders and the Heartland community,” Misko said.
Hartland police are still investigating the incident with assistance from the Waukesha County Medical Examiner’s Office, the state fire chief and the Wisconsin Department of Justice Criminal Investigation Division.
Heartland is a village of about 9,100 people located about 26 miles (42 kilometers) west of Milwaukee. (Associated Press)
