New Delhi [India]May 29 (ANI): President Drupadi Murmu will be on a two-state visit to Suriname and Serbia starting June 4, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During his visit to Suriname from June 4th to 6th, President Murmu will visit Paramaribo at the invitation of Surinamese President Chandrika Pesad Santoshi.

On 5 June, the President will be the guest of honor at a celebration organized to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the arrival of Indians in Suriname.
The President will hold bilateral talks with Surinamese President Santoshi. She will also visit places of historical and cultural significance and interact with members of the Indian community and diaspora.
At the invitation of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, President Murmu will pay a state visit to Serbia on June 7.
“During the two-day visit, the President will hold bilateral talks with President Vucic and meet with Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and National Assembly Speaker Vladimir Orlic. The President will also speak at business events delivered speeches and interacted with the Indian community and friends of India,” according to the statement
Notably, Murmu’s visit to Suriname marks her first state visit since becoming president last year.
Following President Santoshi’s visit to India in January 2023, the President’s visit to Suriname will further boost the continued momentum in bilateral relations.
“The President’s state visit to Serbia is the first for both heads of state and reflects India’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral trade and ties between economies, cultures and peoples,” the statement read. (Arnie)
