Moscow [Russia]March 29 (ANI): The Kremlin on Tuesday expressed regret over the UN Security Council’s decision to reject Russia’s international investigation into the Nord Stream pipeline explosion last September, Anadolu Agency reported.

However, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Moscow would continue efforts to objectively investigate the September 2022 pipeline explosion that ruptured the Nord Stream gas pipeline.

Asked at a news conference in Moscow what steps Russia plans to take, Peskov said: “We believe that everyone should be interested in an objective investigation involving all stakeholders, all those who can expose this terrorist act.” customers and perpetrators” are farther away.

The UN Security Council on Monday did not support a Russia and China resolution calling on UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to set up an international independent commission “to conduct a full, transparent and impartial investigation into all aspects of the sabotage” Nord Stream and Nord Stream-2 Gas pipelines, including identifying the perpetrators, sponsors, organizers and their accomplices of the sabotage,” Anadolu Agency reported.

Peskov reiterated that an international investigation will be carried out “with all its might,” Anadolu Agency reported.

He added: “We think this is very important and we regret that the initiative did not go through, but, of course, the Russian side will continue to work hard to prevent this topic from being glossed over.”

Russia, China and Brazil voted in favor of the draft resolution, while the remaining 12 council members abstained. At least nine votes are needed to pass a draft resolution in the 15-member council.

The Nord Stream pipeline, which carries Russian gas through the Baltic Sea to northern Germany, ruptured in a series of explosions on Sept. 26 last year, causing a leak that officials in the region’s countries described as “possible damage”.

Last September, a series of leaks was reported on the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 pipelines, the multibillion-dollar project to transport natural gas from Russia to Germany via the Baltic Sea.

Jurisdictions Sweden and Denmark, where the spill occurred, both said the spill occurred because someone deliberately blew up the pipeline. However, they did not reveal who was responsible for the attack.

Russia accused the United States of being directly involved in the blast, which severely damaged the pipeline.

Additionally, the September 2022 bombing of the undersea Nord Stream gas pipeline was carried out by the United States in a covert operation, according to findings published in Substack by American investigative journalist and political writer Seymour Hersh. Hersh, a Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, noted that the decision to sabotage the pipeline came after more than nine months of top-secret debate within the Washington intelligence community.

After the pipeline explosion, the American media immediately regarded it as an unsolved mystery. Russia has been repeatedly brought up as a possible culprit, spurred by leaks orchestrated by the White House — but no clear motive has been identified for this act of self-sabotage beyond simple revenge.

NATO and Washington believe that Nord Stream 1 has enough problems, but Nord Stream 2 will be completed in September 2021, further increasing American anxiety.

If approved by German regulators, it would double the flow of cheap natural gas to Germany and Western Europe, Hersh said.

Its capacity can accommodate more than 50 percent of the country’s annual usage. The U.S. sees Europe’s reliance on Russian gas as a risk of Ukrainian backing because countries such as Germany may be reluctant to provide the necessary funding and arms.

However, the administration of U.S. President Joe Biden has denied the allegations and called the report “completely false and a complete fabrication.” (Arnie)
