Home and Law Minister K. Shanmugam told Parliament that the police had named the duo and released information about the case in the public interest.

In response to a question, Shanmugam said that while the general principle is that law enforcement agencies do not reveal the names of persons under investigation, there may be a variety of circumstances where it may be necessary to do so.
The minister said police usually release the names of those under investigation when they abscond. He added that police would make public inquiries if they were of public interest, or if the persons and facts of the crime being investigated were already known to the public.
Shanmugam said the circumstances relating to Lee and his lawyer wife spanned the two instances, adding that the couple absconded after police contacted them to assist with the investigation.
The tribunal and court findings – that the couple did not tell the truth and were dishonest – have also become a matter of public record, so revealing the police investigation in Parliament would not “substantially add to any cloud that the couple may have already had “Suppressed,” Shanmugam was quoted by The Straits Times as saying.
Earlier this month, Senior Minister Teo Chee Hean told Parliament the couple had left Singapore after refusing to undergo police interviews they had initially agreed to attend.
Police later said they left Singapore following their engagement in June 2022 and have not returned since.

One of the differences was the demolition clause – which involved the demolition of Lee’s house at 38 Oxley Road after his death – which did not appear in the sixth or penultimate will, but in the last in the will.
The clause became a sticking point for the late Lee’s children.
