A terrorist attack at the Kaaj Education Center west of the Afghan capital Kabul killed more than 54 students, most of them girls, and the hashtag campaign became a Twitter sensation and quickly became a trending trend.
With billions of views, 16 million interactions and over 10 million tweets, the hashtag #StopHazaraGenocide has become one of the most popular trends in Afghanistan, according to The Khaama Press.

Twitter users suggested that hashtags and global protests calling for an end to the “genocide” against the Hazaras could unite the Afghan people as a nation.
Protests around the world began in Sydney, Australia, following the September 30 attack on the Kaaj Education Centre, and have since spread to more than 100 cities in parallel with the Twitter movement.
Demonstrations by Hazaras continue to bring countless people to the streets crying out for justice. Thousands of people marched in the British capital, London, on Wednesday to raise the topic of the Hazara genocide to the British parliament, Hama Press reported.
British MP Paul Bristow addressed the crowd and promised to keep speaking out until the genocide of the Hazaras in Afghanistan is over.
The violent persecution of Afghan Shiite Hazara dates back more than a century but reached unprecedented levels last year under the Taliban.
Attacks on Hazara houses of worship, schools and other public places have intensified since the Taliban took control last year. Last year, the Islamic State of Khorasan claimed responsibility for 13 attacks on Hazaras.
