Gujranwala [Pakistan]Sept. 11 (ANI): A plane carrying former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan survived an emergency landing on Saturday due to a technical failure in the air, local media reported.

The Pakistan Daily quoted a local TV channel as saying that Imran Khan was on a special plane to Gujranwala to speak at a rally on Saturday.

Pakistan Daily quoted PTI leader Azhar Mashwani as saying Khan’s plane returned to Islamabad shortly after takeoff due to bad weather.

“Reports of any technical malfunction of the aircraft are incorrect,” the PTI leader tweeted.

The chairman of Pakistan’s Tehreek-e-Insaf yesterday called on workers and people across the country to stand up for him.

Addressing the rally in Gujranwala, Pakistan’s Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman addressed the agency directly and warned that it would be held accountable if the country and economy “slipped further” under the current government.

“I’m speaking to powerful people,” he said at Jinnah Stadium.

“I want to ask the establishment…how this government brought down this country and economy…I know you call yourself neutral, but this country will hold you accountable for this country’s decline. They will insist you are responsible , because you could have stopped the country from sinking into this swamp, but you didn’t do anything,” he added.
