Islamabad [Pakistan]Dec 1 (ANI): At least three people were shot dead by unidentified assailants in North Waziristan, Pakistan, including a jeweler and two of his friends, a Pakistani newspaper reported.
The newspaper further reported that the policeman said on Tuesday that unidentified assailants abducted three friends from the Bannu district in the middle of the night from a jewelry store before shooting them dead.
Police said a motive for the killing has yet to be determined. The body of the deceased was found in a field near Mir Ali Bazaar in the morning, police said, adding that a triple murder had been registered against the unidentified assailant. Further investigations are underway, according to The National.
This is not the first time civilian casualties have occurred in Pakistan. Earlier, in October, in Quetta, Balochistan, armed men attacked victims and opened fire, killing two people.
According to Dawn, the attack took place in front of a session court, according to police.
One of the injured, Sardar Nasim Tareen, was punched outside the courtroom by unidentified men as he was leaving the courtroom after the hearing.
Meanwhile, armed assailants waiting outside the courthouse opened fire, killing eight other men accompanying Tallinn, Dawn reported.
But this happened not only to civilians, but also to soldiers. In North Waziristan in the last week of November, a Pakistani soldier was killed after a terrorist opened fire on security officials in the tribal area of Upper Waziristan, The Dawn newspaper reported.
The security officer was killed when terrorists opened fire on a patrol in the upper Waziristan tribal area, Pakistani officials said in a statement.
In a separate incident, another man, described by authorities as a “terrorist”, was killed in Sararogha, South Waziristan district.
“Havildar Omer Hayat, 39, was martyred in an exchange of fire between the army and terrorists in the Sararogha area on Tuesday,” the statement said, adding, “He belongs to the Lachi area of the Kohat district.”
All roads in the area were blocked during the search operation, while the Sararoga area was being cleared of terrorists, Dawn newspaper quoted the army as saying.
“The Pakistani Army is determined to eliminate the threat of terrorism and this sacrifice of our brave soldiers has further strengthened our resolve,” it added. (Arnie)
