Kathmandu [Nepal]May 3 (ANI): Nepal’s Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has appointed three more ministers to his cabinet, the ninth in five months since he took office after last December’s general election. Second expanded ministerial meeting.

In the latest round of expansion, Nepalese President Ramchandra Poudel allocated ministerial posts to Dhan Raj Gurung, Mohan Bahadur Basnet and Digbahadur Limbu.

Gurung was appointed Minister of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Basnet will be in charge of Health and Population and Limbu will be Minister of Youth and Sports. The three ministers belong to the Nepalese parliament.

The appointments were made on the advice of Pushpa Kamal Dahal aka Prachanda, who is in his third term as prime minister.

After a weeks-long hiatus, he reshuffled his cabinet in March but could only appoint 11 ministers, including a minister of state.

Following the cabinet reshuffle, four leaders of Nepal’s Congress were elected to the cabinet. The largest party in the ruling coalition could fill half of the allocated seats amid rising discontent over the division of ministerial positions.

The cabinet can have up to 25 people and there are currently two vacancies.

Dahal won a vote of confidence in parliament in March after gaining the support of the Nepali Congress and some other smaller parties. This is his second-floor test since taking over as prime minister on December 25.

After Dahal decided to support Ramchandra Paudel sent by the Nepali Congress in the presidential election, the Nepal Communist Party led by KP Sharma Oli and the Rashtriya Prajatantra party – United Marxist-Leninists withdrew their support, thus necessitating a second Vote of confidence. (Arnie)
