Islamabad [Pakistan]December 4 (ANI): Three Pakistani policemen were shot dead by what officials officially described as “terrorists” in Akora Khattak, Nowshera district, on Saturday.
According to Dawn, citing Nowshera police spokesman Durrani, the assailants attacked the van, killing three police officers.

Police arrived at the crime scene shortly after the attack, cordoned off the area and launched a search operation, Durrani said.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police identified the officers as Sergeant Manzoor, Constable Amanullah and Constable Ayaz, Dawn reported.
Meanwhile, the 1122 Rescue Team said in a statement that the medical team had transferred the body to Nowshera Regional Headquarters Hospital.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan took note of the incident and asked the police chief to file an incident report.
“The incident is very tragic and the sacrifice of the martyrs will not be in vain,” the chief minister said. He also prayed for the dead and offered his condolences to their families.
The incident followed a suicide attack on a police vehicle in Balochistan’s Balili district on Wednesday, which left four dead and 24 wounded.
Deputy Director General of Quetta Police (DIGP) Ghulam Azfar Mahesar told reporters at the scene of the attack that the blast occurred near a police vehicle that was providing security for polio workers.
“Due to the impact [of the blast]the vehicle overturned and fell into a ditch,” Liming quoted him as saying.
The official further informed that a total of three vehicles were hit in the explosion, namely a police car, a Suzuki Mehran and a Toyota Corolla. “Looking at the crime scene, an estimated 25 kilometers of explosives were used given the overturned truck [in the blast]”
Mahsar added that the wounded had been transferred to Quetta Civil Hospital, Dawn newspaper reported. The outlawed Pakistani Taliban (TTP) claimed responsibility for the attack shortly after the attack.
The blast came a day after the militant group called off a ceasefire with the government and called on its fighters to carry out attacks across the country.
According to the TTP statement, they canceled the ceasefire agreement reached with the government in June, Dawn reported.
“As military operations against jihadists in different regions are underway […] Therefore, you must attack as much as possible across the country,” the statement said.
The TTP, a separate entity from the Afghan Taliban but with a similar Islamic ideology, has been responsible for hundreds of attacks and thousands of deaths since its emergence in 2007.
The statement added that the decision came after “a series of uninterrupted attacks by military groups in Bannu’s Lakki Marwat district”. (Arnie)
