WORLD NEWS | Two Pakistani policemen killed in Quetta suicide bombing

Islamabad [Pakistan]Nov. 30 (ANI): Two people were killed and 24 others were wounded in a suicide attack near Pakistan’s Balochistan province on Wednesday.

According to the Dawn newspaper, the blast occurred in the Balili area of ​​the capital Quetta, killing a policeman and a civilian.

Of the 24 people injured in the attack, 20 were police officers and four were civilians, according to Quetta Police Deputy Director General (DIGP) Ghulam Azfar Mahesar.

“The explosion happened near the police car. […] due to influence [of the blast]the vehicle, which was on its way to provide security for the police, overturned and fell into a ditch,” the officer told Dawn.

“Looking at the crime scene and taking into account the overturned truck, it is estimated (in the explosion) that 25 kilograms of explosives were used,” he added.

The wounded have been transferred to Quetta Municipal Hospital, the senior police official said.

According to Pakistani media reports, the explosion site has been cordoned off and investigations are underway.

Balochistan Chief Minister Abdul Quddus Bizenjo said in a statement that he had instructed authorities to provide the best treatment facilities for the injured.

“All factors involved in the incident will be controlled by law,” Dawn quoted Bizenjo as saying. (Arnie)
