Abu Dhabi [UAE], 6th May (ANI/WAM): Reem bint Ibrahim Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation, will visit Australia from 3-5 May 2023 with the aim of strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the political, economic and trade fields . The Minister visited Sydney, Canberra, Adelaide and Brisbane.

During his visit, Hashemi met with Australia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Richard Malles to discuss ways to strengthen the advanced relationship between the two countries, examine ways to enhance the relationship, and develop investment and economic opportunities.

During a meeting with members of the UAE-Australia Business Council and a group of businessmen, Hashemi emphasized the need to continue to explore promising business and investment opportunities in both markets for more business partnerships.

During his visit to the capital, Canberra, Hashemi met with a group of senior officials from Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade to discuss bilateral cooperation in the joint document, as well as ways to strengthen ties in the political, economic, trade and scientific fields, and to discuss joint Exchange views on regional and international issues of concern.

At the Australian National University (ANU), she spoke on the UAE’s efforts to strengthen global consensus in preparation for hosting the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28). Al Hashimy discussed climate-related issues in front of a variety of officials, academics, experts, entrepreneurs and students from the University, as well as students from the Pacific Island countries, one of the regions most affected by climate change in the world Change.

She emphasized the need for a coordinated urgent and comprehensive response to climate action, noting the importance of a concerted international effort and the role of business leaders, civil society, science and youth.

Al Hashimy expressed her desire for Australia to attend COP28, which will be held in Dubai Expo City in November. In this context, she said, “the UAE is playing a pioneering role in addressing the climate crisis, inspired by the vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who realized that protecting the environment from carbon emissions impact, and urge the need to find solutions to flaring natural gas at a time when this problem is unknown.”

She said the UAE was one of the first countries to adopt an integrated approach to address climate change, not only as an environmental challenge but as a way of life that contributes to prosperity and ensures a decent life for all.

In addition, Hashemi met Queensland Premier Anastasia Palazuk and discussed with her ways to strengthen cooperation in trade, investment and tourism. She also visited Brisbane Business Centre, an entrepreneurial growth incubator, where she learned about its role in supporting women entrepreneurs.

In this regard, Al Hashimy met some local companies operating in the knowledge-based future economy centered on innovation and artificial intelligence. Approaches to creating cities hosting international events and strategies to support key urban entrepreneurs are also discussed.

As Brisbane prepares to host the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games, Hashemi shared experience with Australia on the UAE’s hosting of Expo 2020 Dubai.

At the end of his visit, Reem Hashemi praised the bilateral relations and the bond of friendship between the two countries, expressing his desire to further strengthen these relations with a view to achieving new levels of fruitful cooperation in various fields. (ANI/WAM)
