LONDON, June 6 (AP) – A British police motorcyclist faced a criminal investigation Tuesday after a woman died when she collided with a police car escorting Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh.
Helen Holland, 81, was attacked in west London on May 10. She was seriously injured and died two weeks later.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct said the officer was told a criminal investigation was underway for dangerous driving causing death and careless or reckless driving causing death.

Hollander died after suffering “multiple fractures and serious internal injuries”, her son Martin told the BBC after the crash. He said she was walking on a crosswalk when she was hit by the motorcycle.
