kabul [Afghanistan]April 3 (ANI): Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid called on the international community to seek engagement rather than put pressure on the Taliban, Afghanistan-based TOLO News reported.

The Taliban have been in power in Afghanistan for two years but have not yet been recognized by any country.

“Pressure, pressure and threats, these methods should be put aside and they should engage with the Islamic Emirate so that the Islamic Emirate can act responsibly on some problems in the world, some legal and other issues,” Mujahid said, according to TOLO News reports.

In an interview with Afghan television channel Radio Afghanistan (RTA), Mujahid said Daesh, which is contained and secretly carrying out attacks, is considered a “one percent problem”.

According to TOLO News, he played down the concerns of some countries about Daesh’s presence in Afghanistan as propaganda, saying that these countries are exaggerating Daesh’s presence in order to use it against the Afghan government and people.

“They (Daesh) do not have a physical presence or even control over a piece of land they claim as their own to operate on. They are secretly trying to exploit a large population of the city,” Mujahid said.

“It is important for the Taliban to take some real action and closely assist the international community. They should accept the legitimate wishes of the international community,” Tolo News quoted political analyst Najib Rahman Shamar as saying.

“This is not an inclusive government. They haven’t taken the steps of the government. They don’t have a constitution and working procedures. They don’t have access to the people. They force women to stay at home, like in prison,” political analyst Milwe Mirwais Ashfta.

Earlier, Amir Khan Muttaqi, the acting foreign minister under the Taliban caretaker regime, said China, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, India, Turkey, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia’s embassy opens in Kabul. (Arnie)
