Kyiv [Ukraine]Jan. 20 (ANI): Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked U.S. President Joe Biden for delivering a $2.5 billion defense package to Kyiv, supplying Ukraine with new weapons and ammunition as the country struggles to Prepare for a new phase in the ongoing conflict with Russia.
Zelensky thanked the United States for its unwavering leadership.
Zelensky tweeted: “Thank you @POTUS for another strong $2.5B Defense Support Program. Stryker Infantry Fighting Vehicles, additional Bradley APCs, Avenger Air Defenses are  Vital help in our fight against the invaders. Thank you for your unwavering leadership support!”
It is worth noting, however, that the defense package does not include the main battle tanks requested by Kyiv, but includes 90 Stryker armored personnel carriers, another 59 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, Avenger air defense System and size ammunition.

“The 59 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles contained in this package, together with the previously committed 50 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles on January 6, and 90 Stryker armored personnel carriers will provide Ukraine with two brigade’s armor capability,” it said.
The latest package brings total U.S. military aid to Ukraine since Russia’s February 2022 invasion to more than $26.7 billion.
Since Britain announced last week that it would send Challenger 2 tanks, Berlin has come under increasing pressure to supply its Leopard 2 tanks, or at least clear the way for other countries, such as Poland, to deliver German-made equipment from their own stocks .
“I thank the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, who was in Kyiv today for very clearly calling for a European decision on tanks,” Zelensky said.
“Now we are waiting for a decision from a European capital to start the prepared tank cooperation chain,” the Ukrainian president said, adding, “I am sure that the German-led forces will remain.” (Ani)
