World number one Juan Lebron has welcomed the development of padel in the UAE.
Padel continues to gain huge traction in the country, with many new world-class facilities increasing grassroots acceptance and interest in the sport.
There are approximately 350 private and public courts in the country. Last November, Dubai hosted the World Padel Championships and now hosts the Modon Abu Dhabi Padel Masters 2023, which will be organized by GMOL Events in partnership with Abu Dhabi Sports Council and Abu Dhabi Organized in partnership with DCT. The World Padel Tour’s only masters competition in the Middle East.
The Abu Dhabi Padel Masters will be held on Hudayriat Island from 21-26 February, the opening event of the year for the fast-growing sport, featuring 128 of the world’s top players.

“There has been a positive growth as more and more young people are taking up the sport,” said the Spaniard.
Meanwhile, Diego Martinez won the Red Bull Local Hero Tour, a unique padel championship held in the UAE for the first time ever .
The winner is chosen to earn the most points over the course of the competition, which is overseen by nine-time padel world champion LeBron.
The winner beat Diego Martinez in the final after an impressive run in qualifying to take home the grand prize of an all-inclusive trip to Madrid to train at LeBron’s youth academy.
The four-stage qualifier kicked off in Ajman with competitions at Padel Plaza, followed by competitions at the Let’s Padel Academy in Abu Dhabi.
The final two stages of the qualifiers are played at the Let’s Paddle Academy stadium in Dubai before being played at Ballers Dubai on Saturday.
The tournament also saw padel enthusiasts and up-and-coming players get tips from LeBron, who was also on the field to oversee the game and offer advice and guidance on the sport
