World Supercross Schedule Changes: Abu Dhabi In, France Out

Two big announcements were made today regarding the 2023 FIM World Supercross Championship schedule. France, which was due to host the second round, has been cancelled. Here’s a post from the series’ official website:

“Due to unforeseen scheduling and logistical challenges, the FIM 2023 World Supercross French Grand Prix has been postponed until further notice.

Ticketmaster will be contacting all French Grand Prix ticket holders to receive a full face value refund as per Ticketmaster’s regulationsrefund policy.

WSX apologizes for any inconvenience caused by this inevitable schedule change and remains fully committed to bringing the FIM World Supercross Championship to France as soon as possible.
We thank you for your unwavering support and we look forward to bringing our fans an unforgettable French Grand Prix in the near future. More details will be announced soon. “

The series still kicks off this Saturday in Birmingham, with the second round now scheduled for September 30 in Singapore. The series will continue with six rounds, with Abu Dhabi hosting the penultimate round on 4-5 November.

SX Global has announced that Yas Island, Abu Dhabi will host the penultimate round of the FIM World Supercross Championship (WSX) in 2023.

The WSX Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will take place over two days from 4-5 November 2023 at the Etihad Arena on Yas Island. This historic event will be the first time the region has hosted a World Supercross. Tickets will go on sale next month.

“We are very proud to announce the hosting of the WSX Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Yas Island is renowned for the standard of excellence it hosts some of the biggest events in the region, including Formula 1, UFC and the NBA among other major events.” said Adam Bailey, CEO of SX Global.

“This event will mark the region’s first supercross event and is a major milestone for both WSX and the sport of supercross. The fact that Abu Dhabi is home to our strategic investment partner, Mubadala Capital, makes it all the more special.”

Ethara is one of the largest events, entertainment and venue management companies in the region. In partnership with Miral, the company operates a number of event venues on Yas Island, including the Etihad Arena, the largest state-of-the-art indoor entertainment venue in the Middle East. Over the past 15 years, Ethara has hosted more than 700 major events in the region for more than 16 million fans, including the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and the Yasalam post-race concert.
