World Teacher’s Day: Adek pays tribute to three outstanding teachers-News

Winners received testimonials, prizes and souvenirs from students at their school

The Ministry of Education and Knowledge (Adek) in Abu Dhabi recognized the dedication and contribution of three teachers to the teaching profession as the department celebrated World Teachers’ Day on October 5th.

The winners of this year’s World Teachers’ Day Award are: Rebecca Vasconcelos, teacher of Gem World College; Michele Pienaar, science teacher of Abu Dhabi International Private School No. 1; and Santhi Gopinathan, Abu Dhabi Indian School-Division 1 subject leader People and computer science teachers.

The principals of private and charter schools have been invited to submit nominations for their outstanding teachers. The judging criteria explored how teachers influence the classroom and students’ learning outcomes, what is the difference between them and their peers, and how they have an organizational impact.

The winners received student testimonials, prizes and trophies at their school.

Adek Chairman Sara Musallam said: “Today, we pay tribute to all teachers in Abu Dhabi. We thank you for your hard work, dedication and enthusiasm. We recognize that to have a world-class education ecosystem, we need world-class education Workers, and the award-winning teachers we celebrate on World Teacher’s Day embody the highest standards of professionalism in the industry. They have had a real life-changing impact on students and school communities, inspiring countless young people to become role models and mentors.”

Vasconcelos said: “I am very honored to be nominated and win this award. It symbolizes the appreciation and recognition of all teachers who have chosen to receive the most difficult year of education, and reflects this positively as a benefit to themselves, students and the learning community. A meaningful life experience. This is an extraordinary achievement, and I will always consider this to be the highlight of my career.”

Pienaar commented: “A great teacher is a passionate and compassionate person who knows balance and innovation. I want to thank my past and present students who made it easy for me to fall in love with my work.”

Santhi said: “As teachers, we should be patient and knowledgeable, because no student is the same, we should always encourage our students to face the world. It’s important to be passionate about this profession, but we should not just look at it. For a job. I want to thank all the faculty and students for their support. Without them I would not have won this award.”

The prize includes a round-trip Etihad business class ticket to their chosen destination.

Launch two new initiatives

To further commemorate World Teachers’ Day, Adek has opened a dedicated teacher hotline, which is a direct communication channel for teachers of private and charter schools in Abu Dhabi, where they can share their suggestions and opinions, answer questions, and express any concerns.

The emirate’s education regulator also issued “Welcome to your new home”-this guide is designed for industry professionals who join schools in the emirate to help them adjust to their new life and become familiar with education in Adek and Abu Dhabi ecosystem. This is to further help new employees immerse themselves in the various leisure and cultural attractions that Abu Dhabi has to offer. The guide also comes with artist coupons to enable them to explore their new home.
