Earlier this month, WWE unveils a new name for the tag team featuring Sheamus and Drew McIntyre — The Banger Bros. Unfortunately, however, it appears this unique moniker will be short-lived.According to Dave Meltzer “Wrestling Observer Newsletter”, The company only recently learned about an adult entertainment company called The Bang Bros. Possibly due to WWE’s status as a family brand, the decision to drop the Banger Bros. team name was due to unfortunately, if somewhat obvious, connotations.
The Banger Bros. name is just the latest in a string of accidentally (or not-so-accidentally) inappropriate WWE terms, such as Rob Van Dam’s 420 Leg Drop, “Submit to Sorority” Featuring Paige, Becky Lynch, and Charlotte Flair, or most famously, John Cena’s five-knuckle shuffle. Now, Sheamus and McIntyre will have to move on without an undeniably catchy name — at least until WWE can come up with another title for the franchise.
The duo formerly known as The Banger Bros. are currently involved in a Tournament to decide next contender for ‘WWE SmackDown’ tag team title Currently owned by Jimmy and Jey Uso. McIntyre and Sheamus beat The Viking Raiders to advance to the second round last week and will now face Hit Row’s Top Dolla and Ashante “Thee” Adonis On tonight’s “SmackDown.” The other two remaining teams in the tournament, Imperium’s Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci and Legado Del Fantasma’s Joaquin Wilde and Cruz Del Toro, will also battle tonight.
